*slurp...Ahhhhhhhh.....*
The sounds of a white chocolate raspberry latte...
Well, after being stuck at -minus 27 pounds- for 9 days I suddenly dropped 2 1/2 more pounds yesterday morning. To which I say "yipee"! Must have been Robyn's divine hors d'oeuvres [which, by the way - could we make that word ANY harder to spell??! That's worse than vacum, vaccum, vacuum!] the other night. So, yesterday - in an attempt to hit the golden 30 pound mark- I did 45 minutes of Pilates. Then just to be sure, I did some aerobics - which only lasted 10 minutes when a muscle spasm reminded me that going from virtually NO excercise to an HOUR of excercise wasn't necessarily the BEST plan...
The problem with excercising like that *aside from the pain factor* is that I get quite hungry afterwards. Can you say - defeats the purpose...?
Today's weigh-in said: still at 29 1/2. Perhaps I gained some super-burly muscle but lost fat. Or...perhaps I ate a bit too much after my workout. Or perhaps real life just doesn't work like my fantasy world of "I'll lose 1/2 pound today because I WANT TO".
So, today I decided to take a different approach and sit at the computer sipping a 300 calorie latte. Gotta keep the body guessing: "Will she work out for an hour...or sit around drinking coffee?? Will she spontaniously do 100 crunches...or loll around in total laziness?? "How many calories should I store? How many calories should I burn? What will she do next?!?!"
No, actually I just decided that since it has been weeks and weeks since I made a white choc. raspberry latte (mocha?) I would enjoy one today. And semi-compensate by axing the 250 calorie granola/blueberry/almonds/milk bowl of cereal with a 150 calorie boring latte and compliment my "special" beverage with a 90 calorie breakfast of soy & flaxseed whole grain sprouted toast with scrambled egg white on top. *No shoving please - there's plenty for everyone!*
Also, when I measured myself yesterday, I was down another 3 1/2 inches (since 7/19) for a grand total of 23.75 inches lost. So, I highly recommend measuring as well as weighing because I was obviously still losing during my week and a half plateau on the scale. Probably the whole muscle weighs more than fat thing. Although, I only excercised once or twice during that whole 3 weeks - so I don't know. It's all very mysterious...
My new obsession is to weigh myself every night right before bed and then immediately every morning when I wake up. I think it is quite magical how simply lying in a bed for 6-7 hours can cause me to weigh between 1 - 2 pounds less in the morning. If I laid down for 6-7 hours in the middle of the day, would I have lost weight when I get up? What if I sleep 12 hours at night...will I lose more than if I only laid there for 6 hours?? All I can say is: magical!!

In other news...
Maisie got up this morning and said "I think my throat is starting to feel better." Glory, amen for that!!! 5 full days of crying - and that was just me...
I think everyone might possibly be on the mend here - this has been one nasty sickness. Now they all are just coughing like a pack of smokers. Georgia asked me something yesterday and (for those of you who have seen the movie Monsters Inc.) sounded just like Roz:

"MIKE WAZOWSKI!!!"
After informing her of her slug-like similarities and then laughing hysterically...I offered her a cough drop! She was less than amused.
No one got up in the middle of the night needing medicine. HA-LE-LOO-YA!!!

Zane is playing football this year. He just started practice this week. It is just starting to sink in what kind of time commitment this is going to be. He will have practice Mon-Fri from 5:30pm - 7:30pm for the entire month of August. Then 2-3 evening practices a week and a game every Saturday in September & October. *cringe* I'm normally not into signing up the kids for activites that require anything more than a once a week commitment but this is really his thing. So, I thought I'd give it a try this year.
One of the coaches is a friend of ours and a few months ago, Zane was at his house and apparently they were throwing a football around. When we picked up Zane that day, our friend said, "I WANT Zane on my football team this year!!" [Apparently all of those early ears of throwing toys at his siblings have paid off!] Thus, our kabillion hour football commitment this fall...
The nice thing is that it is free for the first year *to get you hooked* - so that is nice. Although, Zane has to gather pledges for a car wash that the coaches will be doing so they can purchase uniforms. ~~Beware church friends - the pitch is coming...bring cash on Sunday!!~~ If he can raise $150, he'll get a jersey he can keep with his name on the back - so that'll be the minimal goal.
Eric took him to his first practice and took pics of him. I must say, he did quite a good job on the taking pics:
Rushing the "dummy" -

Attacking the "dummy" -

This one cracked me up, "Um, dude - the dummy is supposed to simulate another player. If you do that to another player you are going to be sitting on their shoulders! Perhaps just focus on knocking him down and not riding him all the way to the ranch...
Catching the pass -

Hmmnn...I just took the last sip of my "perfect-coffee-beverage" and I still feel quite tired. Apparently 2 shots of espresso isn't enough for today. Well, I seriously need to pull it together because I have 21 pages of bible study homework to complete and 5 loads of laundry to do. AND...Eric has an elders meeting tonight so he won't be riding in on the white horse to rescue me until 8pm or later. I'm currently trying NOT to think about standing in the rain on a football field for 2 hours this evening with 3 children in tow. I don't even OWN an umbrella!! [Yes, I live in Seattle and don't own an umbrella - most people I know don't own one!! It's too much of a hassle to open and close it when you are just going from your car to a building. But the whole standing on a field for 2 hours might convince me to actually purchase one...
Almost all of the parents stay for practice each day, but today may have to be a drop-him-off-and-take-the-other-three-kids-shopping-at-Costco evening, which is SO much more appealing!!!!
